Randy stepped outside in a mild daze. He was completely unaware that Charley had taken several photographs of him. Or that Charley slipped out the front door behind him.

Instead his mind was focused on what had just happened. He had been blessed by the most visible sign yet that he and God were moving as one, and that he and Electra were now moving as one. From here on, there would be no going back.

Thy will be done, not mine, Randy thought as he drifted down the street.

Charley stood in the doorway of a shuttered deli, watching Roscoe enter his darkened hotel room. A moment later, a light came on in a room five stories up. Roscoe appeared by the window. Charley watched him remove his tie and loosen his collar. Then Roscoe left the room, as the light in the bathroom came on.

The Napier seems like a fairly simple place to infiltrate, Charley thought. He could get into Roscoe’s room easily enough, and at the very least plant a bug. It would be harder without the right credentials, of course, but it could be done.

Hell, he could probably just get in through the service entrance. He’d come back tomorrow and stake him out. Roscoe seemed to move around the city a fair amount. This would be a breeze.

Charley walked away whistling under his breath, his mind on Electra in her corset.

Some things in life were just . . . well, perfect.
